Tell us about yourself.

I moved from India when I was 24. At that time, I was very shy but now I’m getting better. I am a strong woman. As a Mechanical engineer, I accept all the challenges and sometimes do more than I thought I could ever do.  I love cooking.  I enjoy travelling and making friends.  I can speak 4 languages – English, Hindi, Oriya, and Bengali, and I want to learn 2 more - Gujarati and French.

What brought you to BR+A?

I was looking for a more challenging role and wanted a healthy office environment. I met with Ted and Dawn and felt that BR+A would be a good change for me.  I also wanted to do large healthcare work, and I was excited about the projects that BR+A was working on in Charleston.

What’s your favorite part about working here?

My team!  I work mostly with the people in the Charleston and Charlotte offices, and I enjoy them very much. I also like the challenging projects and always feel excited to be part of large projects.

What’s your superpower?

I can do almost all the “handyman” projects at my house myself, from installing ceiling fans to fixing whatever is broken.

What inspires you?

Learning from people who do good things in the world and trying to use those same things in my life.

How would you describe your work style?

I am very detailed oriented.  Everything must be correct.  Until I am satisfied, I never give up.  My desk might be messy, but my work is not!  I make sure all the information is there so that there are very few questions in the end.  My daughter, Adi says I am a perfectionist!

Has there been a person in your career who has really made a difference?

Joe Paolucci – he lives in New York now, but we worked together at my first job at DWG. He was my mentor, and he always told me that my work was very good and I could be a great engineer. He always believed in me and encouraged me to keep getting better.
