Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine (JAXGM)

189,000 GSF, four-story state-of-the-art research facility, located on the University of Connecticut Health Center campus. JAX GM contains both biological and computational lab space for 160 biomedical researchers, technicians, and support staff, with growth flexibility to accommodate the expected growth to 300. The project consisted of a mix of 20 modern and efficient microbiology-based research labs, 15 flexible and interactive bioinformatics research clusters, proteomics, flow cytometry, adaptable scientific service cores, a research vivarium, Tier 2++ data center, common and collaboration space, a small and a large formal boardroom, a large ground-level auditorium, additional conference areas, training rooms, office space, and general support space. Additional staff amenities include a dining hall, an outdoor courtyard, a third-floor roof terrace, a fitness center, and a maternity room. The project received over $1 million in energy rebate incentives from local utility companies for such items as air quality monitoring, minimized airflows, gas-fired cogeneration, etc. Project was completed under a fast-track construction manager at risk delivery method. LEED Gold Certified.
